the big week

Last week was hysterical busy for me, but in a good way- and now I have some fun and exciting things coming this week and next and I am sooo sooo sooo hoping that you guys like it!!

Do you remember a few months ago when I mentioned very briefly about working on a new product for my Etsy shop? Well friends, I am thiiiiiiiiiiis close to launch day and I am going like gangbusters to finish up the details as fast as I can! I am dying to share. Dying!! I am not going to give you any hints today- but I might just post a few hints as the week goes on, just for fun. :D This is something I am really proud of and John and I have been working on it together, which makes it even more special for me. I've been keeping it secret squirrel since JANUARY!!! GAH!! That's a long time for me to not talk about something I am so excited about! So stay tuned and maybe save some of that tax refund lettuce... just in case...:D

In the meantime though, I have a bunch of scrappy shares to get us through the week!!

Scrapbooking has really changed for me lately. I think because I am still "new" to it, I spend a lot of time being frustrated, scattered and fussy about my stuff- I want to have my own style- and I have been struggling to define it- because I like so many different things. I guess recently I have just started to find my flow. I still don't think I have "found" my style...but maybe I have a little bit. I am seeing things I like more clearly, and recognizing what I don't like in my work.

For example:

Salbhg

I did this page for a BHG color article, and at the time when I was making it, I really struggled. I liked the flocked damask, the shaped paper, the letters and the photo, even the colors- which were the basis for the assignment...but the finished product didn't feel right to me. I couldn't solve what ever problem I had with it at the time due to deadlines, so I sent it off.

I just got it back in the mail, and I took it out and looked it over. And then I made a decision to just do what I could to make it into a page I loved, since the original was something I knew I was going to fuss about every time I came across it in my scrapbook.

Salredo

Here is the made over version- I like it so much more- even though I covered up the flocked damask stamping...I figured that if I liked it that much, I could always add it to another page in the future. (basically, I stamped a Damask Pattern using my glue pad and sprinkled pink flocking powder over the impression to create the flocks, in case you were wondering).

Now, normally I don't think you should re-do a page just for your book...but if you reeeaaaaallllly feel like you want to, go ahead and do it. I know I felt better after I did.

And I just love this picture of Sally! It's one of my very faves.

Speaking of Sally...we had a such a fun weekend!! On Friday we had the most special night! The Pebbles saved my family birthday celebration until this past Friday so that we could have dinner at the Columbia Tower Club in Seattle. The Tower Club is on the top of the Columbia Tower in Downtown Seattle, the highest point in the city. I guess it's supposedly Seattle's most "prestigious" club- it's member's only access. How'd we get in?? Well, turns out that my in-law's belong to another club in Seattle whose building is getting renovated- and they get access to this one instead while it's being redone??? I think that was how it worked. It was incredible. Here are a few pictures- I took a zillion.

Ctcbday

I will share a few more of the Seattle pictures in a later post.

Not only did we have that event on Friday night, but then on Saturday night John and I went out to the Showbox to see "Big Head Todd and the Monsters"- and someone...I won't say who :)...may or may not have had a few too many cocktails and is not feeling so well. We literally crammed like 6 months of social highlights into one weekend. Since we never do anything, we felt incredibly fun and popular. Too bad it's back to reality:P

So that is my update and now I am off to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...I can't wait. :) I can't wait to sleep off my hangover, and I can't wait for it to be tomorrow so I can get back to more crafting, more sharing and 1 day closer to Etsy fun day!!
Ciao!!

hey girl

about time, I miss your posts. Oh and I can't wait for the etsy!!!

Hi Jennifer!!
That view looks amazing!!
I LOVE 'YOUR' style!! You would be my biggest inspiration and yet my work is still rather different, but i see the 'jennifer' influence on most of my LO's!
I check your blog everyday and always look forward to what you have been up to and been creating!
Keep smiling! YOU ROCK!
Ali Russell

ugh, i can't drink ANYTHING at all anymore without getting a teensy hangover. what happened to my old days? when i could go out ALL night and still make a 9:00 class??

glad you are finding your style.
funny story, though. i ripped that damask page out of the mag and have it hanging on my inspiration board. hehehe.

Jennifer, you really have a unique style! And I looooved so much, you keep it simple and it's a great work. You did a very good work with your layout. And I'm waiting for your Etsy!
Hope you have a great day!

i'm exicted to hear what your etsy surprise is! love the new redone page but i'm curious how you changed the colour of her shirt?

I can't wait to see what you're up to! And for the record, I love every page you do!

I love the re-do. Love the clusters of bits and pieces. So cozy-ish. Hope your recovery is quick and painless.

i love the page re-do! of course, i loved the original, but i can totally see your style in the revamped version. i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one who obsesses about style - and now i don't feel bad re-doing some of those bothersome pages!

Yes! That redo is so much more YOU! Love it!

I can't wait to see what you have for your etsy shop!! Love the picture overlooking the city. Sounds like you had a terrific weekend.

i cannot wait to see what you are working on for your etsy shop!
i just love your work so much.
i love the original page in BHG and i love the redo too!
sounds like you had a wonderful weekend!
:)

I really love the redo, so cute and looks more like you.
Glad you had a great bday, sounds like alot of fun and love the seattle pic, way cool.
Can't wait to see all about this Etsy thing, very exciting.

I love reading your blog. It's so fun and neat to read. :) I love your re-do and even though I don't really 'know' you, I think the second one is so much more 'you'. Can't wait to hear more about your Etsy news! and I LOVE all your A Muse cards too!

I actually love that you redid the layout. I think the second one screams "Jennifer Pebbles." It's more graphic, with a smattering of perfectly placed embellies, and gorgeous photography. You have a great style!! :)
I can't wait to see what you're working on!

Love them both! But yes, the second one is way more "you" And I can't believe you changed the color of her shirt! Wow.. I would have never in a million years thought to do that :)

Good catch on the shirt color, I had forgotten about that. Since the BHG article was focusing on color, I changed it from the original pink to blue to match the "teal" aspect of the article. I used a color layer mask in Photoshop.

I'm saving all of my lettuce for you!

WOW! You cease to amaze me! I too was stumped by your lo when i saw it in the mag. I thought...."Hmmmm, she must have had a rough day, cuz that sure doesn't match the Pebbles I've come to know and love." KWIM? It's a !GREAT! lo, but it didn't scream you {b*c I think you DO have a style of your own :P }. The second version oozes JP. And i love the demask thing by the by! Chalk one up for the time crunchers, they really know how to get our goats, huh?! snicker snicker

JP in the Tower hittin' the high life! Glad you & hubby had a blast...you look adorable together!

Okay...I gotta' ask....did you take some pictures from the restroom windows? I remember when I worked in the Towers that that was the big fun secret that we all had to check out! Your photos of the skyline are beautiful!

And I love your style and so agree that it's good to redo if something is buggin! Love your blog...can't wait to see your etsy surprise!

I LOVE your layout redo. It's absolutely gorgeous.
