mini vacay
Hola!!
I am checkin' in from a Starbucks somewhere in Washington:) Somewhere warm, sunny and very close to the beach, which is where I have been alllllllll week- since last Friday, and I am loving every.single.minute. Vacation has been desperately needed. I not only needed the down time, the time away from the internet (gasp!), but overall, I just needed a big change of pace and perspective. It's been great. Check out my tan. It's not just a skin color, it's a lifestyle Brian.
:)
This week we've been teaching Drake how to jump off the dock/raft. It's only taken us 2 summers.
He loves it now. He loves it so much, he walks right off the edge when he's not paying attention, and it doesn't even phase him. Josh will be so proud.
We also named the boat- the "S.S. POS" and tried adding an umbrella:
All that's missing is a lawn chair and a tow-behind beer cooler.
It's not all fun and games, John has been working on a house out here for a Seattle client, and also painting the beach house. Right now, the whole thing is covered in plastic. Oh, and the water tank/pump went out, so we've had like, no water. Just enough to flush the biffy and brush our teeth, but not much else. We've had to get creative with our hygienic routines. :)
But on a good clear night, we go to sleep looking at this:
and it helps make all the troubles melt away.
This little mini vacay has been just what my creative self needed. I have a book I am filling up with ideas (thanks to the smart suggestion by Margie) and I think I am going to implement a new work schedule when I get home that will involve a lot of time working on the laptop from outside the house. I realize I need to get out more, which is hard to do when you work from home.
I can't be disconnected forever though, I had to come into town to check email and update the blog and see what's going on in the world. If I could stay out here all summer, I would. Totally. I am trying to talk John into it, but we have this tiny little problem called "work" and John can't just check out for the summer. Damn it.
I will be gone for just a few more days, until then, check out this: www.wordle.net
Wendy Bretz hooked me up to it, and I can't get enough. I want to do a T-shirt or something with one. At least a scrapbook page or card! Too fun.

I am glad you had a nice vacation! You are braver than I would be in the boat. I must have very tall sides on all boats I enter! I had a quick question:How do you print the wordle on one sheet of paper? It may be plain as day, but I could only get it to print one corner. Thanks for any help you can give.

Looks like fun!
Btw, I giggled at the SS. POS, because POS stands for Pee On a Stick in some circles... (As in peeing on a pregnancy stick)
:p :)

I am loving wordle! It seems to *know* which are the important words to feature. so cool!
As for the beach....I am a Seattle area girl. I love that whenever I want, I can just head to the beach to sit and breath the salt air. It is relaxing and renewing.
